Schwarztor with mountain guide
Freeride November 15, 2021
The Schwarztor is a famous and beautiful off-piste, between Breuil Cervinia and Zermatt. It crosses the glaciers of Monte Rosa with a unique view of the Matterhorn and the 4000 m of Valais.
This descent takes place 90% on the glacier, technically it is not very demanding but in any case it is reserved for skiers able to master any slope on groomed slopes and already with some experience off-piste.
Program:
Meeting in Zermatt or Breuil Cervinia, where we will take the ski lifts up to 3800 m of the Klein Matterhorn.
From this point we will have a spectacular view of the magnificent 4000 of Monterosa (Breithorn, Roccia Nera, Pollux, Lyskamm, Castore, Punta Gnifetti). With an easy and spectacular crossing we will pass under the slopes of the Breithorn and in about 1h30 ‘we will reach the Schwarztor pass (3734 m.).
From this point we will begin the splendid descent towards Zermatt on the glacier called Schwarztor. Once on the Gorner glacier the slopes drop down and in these areas we can pass inside fantastic ice caves.
Before arriving at the locality of Furi we will descend between the walls of a canyon that will lead us to the first woods and to the panoramic Tibetan bridge. We will have the opportunity to have lunch in Furi, the village above Zermatt, (Rosti, Fondue, Raclette etc ..) or to go up with the lifts to Italy and choose an Italian restaurant.
Descent on the slopes and return to Zermatt or Breuil Cervinia in the afternoon.
